Ideal for any child, any toilet, anywhere
On. Over. Off. No matter what the toileting situation, the type of toilet or the special need, the Rifton HTS can meet it with its unmatched versatility. It is usable:
ON the toilet. Placing the Rifton HTS on any model of toilet, round-front or elongated, enables the client to use the same toilet as the rest of the family. Mounting bars make for easy, secure attachment of the chair to the toilet base. Removal is just as easy, no tools required.
OVER the toilet. Use the mobile economy base to wheel the Rifton HTS over toilets of nearly any size and style, enabling the client to use the same toilet as the rest of the family. Or use the lower stationary base (on toilets up to 15” tall) so clients can put their feet on the floor. The mobile version also doubles as a shower chair.
OFF the toilet. The mobile base and commode pan enable use of the Rifton HTS anywhere – not just in the bathroom.
As a shower chair. By doubling as a mobile shower chair the Rifton HTS eliminates the need to purchase separate equipment for each activity. The optional tilt-in-space model tilts up to 25˚ back; the backrest tilts up to 18˚ back; and the headrest is adjustable, to provide the ideal showering position for clients of every size, shape and ability.
Supportive and comfortable
According to research, support and comfort are essential for good toileting for children with special needs. That is why we have paid close attention to designing components that give children a sense of safety, security and support.
The maximum support and comfort are provided by the tilt-in-space base option. Its gas-assisted cylinder tilts up to 5˚ forward for easier transfer, as well as 25˚ back for showering and hair washing.
Additional support is provided by the adjustable backrest (6˚ forward for proper toileting position, 6˚ back and 18˚ back to assist with showering and hair washing).
Natural contours have been molded into the seat and back for basic comfort.
The seat and back are even more comfortable with the addition of cushioned integral-skin foam pads.
All straps and accessories that touch the skin have been made with soft, easily laundered materials.
Reduces clean up
Every opportunity to save clean up and make the caregiver’s task easier was pursued in the design of the Rifton HTS.
For instance, the unique design of the seat pad opening (open to the rear) facilitates easy access for cleaning and hygiene after toileting.
This is even more effective when the seat and back are on a tilt-in-space base and it is tilted forward to make it easier for the caregiver to clean up a seated, relaxed client.
Rifton’s splash guard deflector represents a totally new approach to maximum protection. It slips between the legs down into the pan and is held in place with the seatbelt.
The soft plastic of the splash guard is comfortable for the client and provides an extra measure of security for the caregiver.
Grows with the child (or multiple children)
Which chair is larger? Surprise: the two chairs in the photo are exactly the same size. One is adjusted to its smallest setting, the other to its largest – clearly illustrating the Rifton HTS’s capacity to accommodate children of every size, body type and special need.
Many elements of the Rifton HTS are designed to fit a wide range of sizes, body types and special needs – allowing room for growth over time or use by multiple children.
Adjust the height. One frame accommodates both small and medium seats to allow for children’s growth. Height adjusts from 15” – 21½”. Separate frame for large seat.
Adjust the seat depth. The seat depth on the Rifton HTS adjusts in 1” increments to fit the child. Overall depth ranges from 8” on the small Rifton HTS to 17½” on the large model.
The chair’s width can be adjusted by adding one or both hip guides to the armrests. Each hip guide can be placed in two positions on the armrest allowing further adjustment and room for growth.
Adjust the backrest. The backrest can be adjusted 6˚ forward (for proper toileting position), 6˚ back and 18˚ back (to assist with showering and hair washing).
Solves real problems
On the road. The portability kit gives clients and their families greater freedom to travel. Approximate carry bag dimensions: 19½” X 21¼” X 10″
Watch as it is set up over a public toilet.
The portability base includes a lightweight folding frame and carry bag (for small and medium sizes) make toileting possible while traveling. (Seat and back are purchased separately.)
Designed to set up completely above toilets, the portability kit eliminates contact with public toilets for better hygiene.
In the tub. The small and medium Rifton HTS seats attach to the tub stand for comfortable in-tub bathing and hair washing.
The reduced footprint of the tub stand accommodates narrow and wide tub bottoms alike.
Easier lifts and transfers
Lifts and transfers present a major challenge to successful toileting. The Rifton HTS makes them easier with a variety of features. Sit-to-stand transfers in and out of the chair provide good practice and strengthening for clients.
The footboard’s flip-up capacity – and the gas-spring forward-tilting seat (up to 5˚ forward) – support an easy transition from sit-to-stand.
The durable footboard also enables step-pivot transfers from the front. The weight capacity of the footboard is 150 lbs for all sizes of the HTS.
Lateral transfers are simpler as well, thanks to the removable armrests.
No tools required
Like all our products, the Rifton HTS is exceptionally easy to assemble, adjust and disassemble. All adjustments levers and buttons are blue. So look for blue whenever you are trying to adjust the chair.
All attachments and adjustments are easily made by hand, with no need for tools.
Hygienic and easy to clean
The Rifton HTS facilitates cleanliness – and health – for the clients who use it.
The material for the seat and back pads (integral skin foam) is inherently antimicrobial, promoting hygiene.
No special cleansers required: every part of the Rifton HTS is washable with a simple 10% bleach solution.
Waterproof construction and easy disassembly make every element of the Rifton HTS easy to wash and disinfect.
Exceptional value
The Rifton HTS is one of the most affordable toileting systems available today – which makes it an extraordinary value. On top of that, you can configure the Rifton HTS in a myriad of ways to fit your clients and your budget.
Options range from the basic model, with seat, back, base and armrests…
…to the fully accessorized version, with seat and back pads, headrest, butterfly harness, anterior support/tray, laterals, hip guides, commode pan, deflector, abductor, ankle straps, calf rest and footboard.
Lasts for many years
Like all our products, the Rifton HTS is designed for many years of service, far beyond the average toileting system. This durability comes from the sturdy stainless steel hardware that makes up the frame…
…which is welded and powder-coated for added strength.
Durability is built into the design of every component – from the casters at the bottom…
…to the adjustable headrest at the top.
Seat and back pads
Integral skin foam pads are waterproof, cushioned and easily removed for disinfecting.
Rear-open seat pad – The unique design of the seat pad opening – open to the rear – facilitates access for caregivers to perform the necessary cleaning.
Rear-closed seat pad – Another option features a closed seat back and narrower hole, designed for users who need more support when sitting.
No-hole seat pad – In response to customer requests, we are offering a no-hole seat pad for additional support.
The no-hole seat pad comes with a rigid hole filler for the medium and large HTS.

Headrest
The curved headrest provides support for clients with limited head control and adjusts in several directions: height, A/P positioning, up or down.
Tilting the headrest backward allows for comfortable showering and hair washing.

Push handles
The push handles are a separate accessory designed to fit onto all HTS backs.
Using the push handles, caregivers can easily move a client seated in a mobile base HTS.
A set of push handles attaches to the back of the HTS.
Butterfly harness
When adjusted to fit snugly and comfortably, the butterfly harness provides maximum anterior support – and thus safety, security and freedom of movement – for clients who have limited trunk control while sitting.

Anterior support
The padded anterior support/tray promotes the forward-leaning positioning that, according to research, best facilitates the toileting process.

Laterals
Independently adjustable laterals secure children with limited trunk control. Laterals come in two sizes, small (5″ x 4″) or large (6½” x 5″).
With the addition of a wide chest strap to the laterals, clients without upper torso control gain added trunk support and security to help correct spinal alignment.

Hip guides
The hip guides (small 7″ x 3″, large 11″ x 3″) tailor the chair to the size and shape of each client, allowing for years of continual use as the child grows…
…or the use of a single chair with multiple children.

Pan
The pan facilitates off-toilet functionality with its generous capacity.
The pan’s durable plastic construction makes cleaning simple.
The pan is attached to the Rifton HTS by sliding it in from the back. Its extra depth insures it will not spill, even when the chair is tilted.
Bowl adapter
The bowl adapter accommodates situations where the hole in the HTS isn’t fully over the hole in the toilet.
Inserted at the front edge of the hole under the seat pad, the bowl adapter ensures accurate positioning of the HTS over a wall-hung toilet. It can also be used with the large HTS to create a secure fit over a round-front toilet.
Deflector
Deflectors keep caregivers and clients clean during urination.
Options include a low deflector built into the seat cover,
a removable soft standard deflector (which requires the seat pad for attaching)
and a splash guard that is held in place by the seat belt.
Removable deflectors are easy to attach.
The soft plastic of the splash guard is comfortable for the client while providing an extra measure of security for the caregiver.
Abductor
The abductor prevents scissoring of the legs and promotes good joint and body alignment by separating the knees and helps to control leg muscles.
Made of soft skin foam, it also connects to the standard deflector to maintain cleanliness during urination.
The abductor attaches easily to the Rifton HTS.
Ankle straps
Ankle straps attach to the footboard.
Ankle straps secure the feet of those with limited muscle control and excursion movement, enabling a moderate range of movement while improving independence in postural control.
Calf rest
The attachable calf rest enhances the client’s comfort and sense of security when the footboard is extended and angled upward.
Footboard
The footboard supports client’s feet at the optimal height and angle.
The footboard adjusts up to 5″ in 1” increments.
The footboard has four angle settings.
Flipping the footboard up gives the client room for sit-to-stand transfers.
Tub base
The tub base adds even more versatility to the already versatile Rifton HTS. The small and medium Rifton HTS seats attach to the tub base for comfortable showering and hair washing in the bathtub, eliminating the need to purchase a separate showering chair.
The reduced footprint accommodates narrow and wide tub bottoms alike.
